Overview

Registered in 1997, 'Lakeside Baby Face' is a miniature hosta cultivar produced from a cross between a Lakeside seedling (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Lakeside Little Gem' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its compact, mound-like form and small leaves that are dark green with deep gold, flat margins approximately 0.38 inches (1.0 cm) wide.

In the Garden

This miniature hosta reaches a mature size of 8 inches (20.3 cm) in diameter and 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) in height, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and is well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or container cultivation due to its diminutive stature. Companion plants might include small ferns or shade-tolerant groundcovers that do not overwhelm its scale.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, though the small leaf size may reduce attractiveness to some pests.
