Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'August Moon', registered in 1999, 'Kiwi Kaniere Gold' is a large, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with golden yellow margins. The leaf blades are dull on both surfaces, slightly rippled at the margins, and cordate at the base, creating a bold, mound-like habit.
In the Garden
'Kiwi Kaniere Gold' reaches approximately 31.5 inches (80 cm) in diameter and 19.7 inches (50 cm) in height, forming a dense, rounded mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border. The green-and-gold foliage pairs well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, it may be susceptible to slug damage; monitor and manage as needed. Deer resistance is not reported for this cultivar.
