Overview

Registered in 1999 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Tokudama', 'Kiwi Forest' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its mottled blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces and slightly rippled margins. The cordate leaves, measuring 6.3 inches (16.0 cm) long and 5.5 inches (14.0 cm) wide with 9 to 10 vein pairs, form a dense, mound-like clump.

In the Garden

'Kiwi Forest' reaches a mature diameter of 25.2 inches (64.0 cm) and a height of 15.75 inches (40.0 cm), with green scapes rising 17 to 20 inches (43.2 to 50.8 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green foliage maintains its color, and is suitable for woodland borders, shade gardens, or as a groundcover in groups. Its fast growth rate and compact habit make it appropriate for mixed perennial beds, though its medium size limits container suitability to larger pots.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Typical hosta-growing zones apply; slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed with appropriate barriers or deterrents.
