Overview
Registered in 2011 from seedling parents, *Hosta* 'Ka-ching' is a giant variegated cultivar distinguished by its very shiny, corrugated leaves with dark green, slightly rippled margins. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring 13 inches (33.0 cm) long and 10 inches (25.4 cm) wide, have flat bases and dull undersides, with 12 to 15 pairs of veins.
In the Garden
This upright, slow-growing plant reaches 32 inches (81.3 cm) in height and 34 inches (86.4 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its large, glossy foliage pairs well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials. The green scapes, rising 38 to 42 inches (96.5 to 106.7 cm) high, bear flowers with a leaf at each node, and some leaf bracts produce two flowers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
