Overview
Registered in 1986 by E. Fisher and the American Hosta Society, 'Her Grace' is a giant variegated hosta of unknown parentage. Its most distinctive features are the large, slightly undulate leaves with green margins and a broad central variegation, reaching nearly 13 inches in length and 10 inches in width.
In the Garden
'Her Grace' forms a substantial mound 55 inches (140 cm) in diameter and 20 inches (51 cm) tall, making it suitable as a specimen or background plant in shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade with consistent moisture, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its large, bold foliage. Due to its giant size, it is not suitable for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry spells. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Her Grace' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
