Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Handle with Care' is a small-sized sport of *H.* 'Zany Janie' (pod parent; pollen parent unknown) distinguished by its greenish-yellow leaves with wide, white, slightly rippled margins and moderate corrugation. The cultivar forms a compact, mound-like clump with elliptic leaves that are dull on both surfaces.

'Handle with Care' reaches 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 27 inches (68.6 cm) in diameter at maturity, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, where its variegated foliage provides contrast against darker-leaved companions such as ferns, heucheras, or other small hostas. Its small size makes it appropriate for container cultivation, rock gardens, or the front of shaded borders.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the broad, corrugated leaves may attract both pests.
