Registered in 2016 by an unknown breeder, *Hosta* 'Frilly Fantasy' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its heavily rippled and serrated leaf margins. The blue-green leaves are edged with gold, and the leaf surface is dull above with a glaucous bloom beneath, while the margins are greenish yellow, serrated, and heavily rippled.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or tiarellas. Its small size makes it suitable for container cultivation or the front of a shaded border.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer deterrents may be necessary, as this cultivar is susceptible to both.
