Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Spilt Milk' registered in 2008, 'Flemish Milkshake' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by blue-green leaves with gold margins and persistent pale yellow to greenish yellow streaking across the leaf surface. The foliage exhibits a glaucous bloom on both top and bottom, and all divisions have been observed to retain the streaking pattern.

In the Garden

'Flemish Milkshake' forms a mound-shaped clump reaching approximately 28 inches (71 cm) in diameter and 14 inches (36 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, where the blue-green leaf base and gold margins remain most stable. The broadly ovate, lightly wavy leaves with cordate bases pair well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials that complement its variegation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protection from slugs and deer may be necessary in garden settings.
