Overview

Registered in 1986 by H. Weissenberger, this large blue-green hosta is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Elegans'. It is visually distinctive for its broad, heavily textured leaves with blue margins and prominent veining, forming a substantial mound.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature size of 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height, making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. It pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast with its blue-green foliage. Its large size precludes container cultivation for most situations.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. This cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, requiring protection in areas where these pests are prevalent.
