Overview
Registered in 1986 by Shaw and the American Hosta Society, 'Blue Beauty' is a large hybrid derived from *Hosta sieboldiana*. It is distinguished by its substantial, heavily textured blue-green leaves with slight undulations at the margins, forming a broad, dense mound.
In the Garden
'Blue Beauty' reaches a mature diameter of 50 inches (127.0 cm) and a height of 23 inches (58.4 cm), making it a commanding presence in the shade garden. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue coloration is most pronounced. Pair it with ferns, *Heuchera*, or other shade-tolerant perennials for contrasting foliage textures; its large size makes it unsuitable for containers.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
