Overview
Registered in 2013 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Heat Lightning', 'Dream On' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its near-white leaf centers framed by dark green, slightly rippled margins. The ovate leaves, measuring 6 inches (15.2 cm) long and 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide, display a slightly shiny surface on both sides and bear seven to eight vein pairs.
In the Garden
'Dream On' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for variegated hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns or heucheras. Its small stature makes it suitable for container cultivation or placement in the front of shaded borders.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Dream On' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
