Registered in 2011, 'Drama Queen' is a large hosta cultivar of unknown parentage, distinguished by its broad, medium green leaves with wide, flat white margins. The foliage is broadly ovate with cordate bases and lightly wavy edges, presenting a bold, bicolored appearance.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature size of 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its large, variegated leaves. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen plant or in mass plantings in woodland gardens and shaded borders.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Drama Queen' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so monitoring and protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
