Overview

Registered in 1998, *Hosta* 'Dimity' is a miniature hybrid derived from *Hosta* 'Baby Kim'. It forms a compact, fast-growing mound of narrow, variegated leaves with medium green, slightly rippled margins and a dull upper surface, reaching only 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) in height and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

'Dimity' thrives in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and is well-suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders due to its diminutive size. Its small scale pairs effectively with other miniature hostas, small ferns, or low-growing shade perennials such as *Tiarella* or *Heucherella*. The plant's compact habit also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring. As with most hostas, protection from slugs and deer may be necessary in garden settings.
