Overview

Registered in 2009 by K. Walek, 'Baby Kim' is a miniature hosta of unknown parentage. Its visual distinction lies in the combination of medium green leaf margins with a dull surface, elliptic leaves with tapered bases, and a compact mound-like form reaching 4 inches (10.2 cm) in height and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

'Baby Kim' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its miniature size makes it well-suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. With a fast growth rate and a spread of 10 inches (25.4 cm), it pairs effectively with other small perennials such as miniature ferns or dwarf epimediums. Its compact dimensions also make it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. While slug and deer resistance is not documented for this cultivar, standard protective measures are advisable in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
