Overview

Registered in 2002 by P. & J. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Dewline' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its pure white, heavily rippled leaf margins that show no seasonal color change. The ovate leaves are medium green with areas of light green and gray-green near the edge, featuring a distinctive curled tip.

In the Garden

'Dewline' forms a clump 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter and 19 inches (48.3 cm) tall with a moderate growth rate, making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its slightly shiny leaf tops and very shiny undersides provide textural contrast when paired with ferns, heucheras, or other shade perennials. The pure white margins brighten darker areas of the garden without fading as the season progresses.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Dewline' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
