Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Crayons', 'Color Me Yellow' was registered in 2010 and is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with greenish yellow margins. The broadly ovate, lightly cupped leaves are slightly shiny above and dull beneath, with a cordate base and ten vein pairs.
In the Garden
'Color Me Yellow' forms a mound-like clump reaching 26 inches (66 cm) in diameter and 15 inches (38 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it appropriate for border fronts or woodland garden settings.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage.
