Overview

Registered in 1993, 'Cascades' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its white leaf margins that contrast with medium green, slightly rippled leaf centers, and for its white scapes that bear white flowers.

In the Garden

'Cascades' reaches a mature height of 15 inches (38.1 cm) and a spread of 26 inches (66.0 cm), making it suitable for mid-border positions in shade or partial shade. Its white-margined foliage pairs well with dark-leaved companions such as *Heuchera* 'Palace Purple' or ferns. This cultivar is not recommended for container culture due to its medium size.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. 'Cascades' exhibits typical hosta resistance to deer but may require slug control in damp conditions.
