Overview

Registered in 1992 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Gold Standard', 'Brenda's Beauty' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with gold margins and light yellow to medium green streaking. The leaves are dull on top with rounded bases, measuring 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, with eight vein pairs.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a compact mound 15 inches (38.1 cm) tall and 26 inches (66.0 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its restrained size and muted leaf surface allow it to pair well with finer-textured perennials such as ferns or heucheras. While not miniature, it can be accommodated in larger containers if given adequate root space.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer exposures, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as shoots emerge. Like most hostas, 'Brenda's Beauty' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed.
