Overview
Registered in 1986 by P. Aden, this small hosta cultivar produces leaves with green centers and light yellow margins. Its compact habit and cordate leaf bases distinguish it within the small-size class.
In the Garden
'Hosta 'Bright Glow' reaches approximately 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter at maturity. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its gold margins remain most distinct. This small hosta is well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, and pairs effectively with ferns, heucheras, or small woodland perennials. Its modest size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
