Overview
Registered in 1986 by R. O'Harra, this small hosta cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Subcrocea'. It is visually distinctive for its narrow, green leaves with chartreuse to yellow undulating margins, producing a linear, grass-like appearance in the garden.
In the Garden
'Hosta 'Gingee' reaches a mature size of 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, with leaves 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide. Its compact habit and narrow foliage make it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or low-growing perennials in partial to full shade.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
