Overview

Registered with the American Hosta Society in 1986, *Hosta* 'Yellow Splash Rim' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Yellow Splash' that produces small clumps of green leaves with creamy white margins. The leaf blades, measuring 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) long by 3.75 inches (9.5 cm) wide, display slight undulations along the margins and bear 7 to 8 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

This compact cultivar reaches a mature diameter of 43 inches (109.2 cm) and a height of 18 inches (45.7 cm), making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the creamy white margins remain distinct without scorching. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or small shade-tolerant perennials complement its low, mounding habit.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. This cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, typical of hostas grown in shaded garden settings.
