Registered in 2009, 'Valley's Toss the Boss' is a small hosta cultivar derived from *Hosta kikutii* as the pod parent. Its most distinctive features are the dark green, slightly rippled leaf margins, a very shiny upper surface, and notably red-dotted petioles that extend into red-dotted scapes.

In the Garden

This compact plant reaches approximately 12 inches (30 cm) in height and 14 inches (35 cm) in diameter, with an upright, moderate growth habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for variegated hostas, and is well-suited for container cultivation due to its small size. Companion plants might include ferns, heucheras, or other small woodland perennials that appreciate similar conditions.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges.
