Registered in 2014 by an unknown originator, *Hosta* 'Unruly Troll' is a large cultivar distinguished by its heavily corrugated, cupped, and lightly twisted blue-green leaves. The foliage, reaching 10 inches long and 8 inches wide, has a dull upper surface with a glaucous bloom beneath, and broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases and slightly rippled margins.

In the Garden

'Unruly Troll' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where its glaucous bloom is best preserved. With a mature spread of 55 inches and height of 25 inches, this fast-growing cultivar forms a substantial, semi-upright clump suitable for mid-border or woodland settings. Its bold texture pairs well with fine-leaved ferns or shade-tolerant grasses, and the green scapes, reaching 22 to 31 inches, bear typical lavender flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes
