Overview
Registered in 1987 by K. Suzuki and P. Ruh, this miniature cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta venusta*. Its distinguishing features are a compact, dome-shaped habit and variegated foliage, with small leaves displaying a green margin and a lighter center.
In the Garden
'Suzuki Thumbnail' reaches a mature diameter of 6 inches (15.2 cm) and a height of 3 inches (7.6 cm), making it suitable for the front of a shaded border, rock gardens, or troughs. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other small woodland perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. Its diminutive size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed as needed.
