Overview

Registered in 2000 by an unknown hybridizer, *Hosta* 'Rapture' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with gold margins and upright, mounded habit. The leaf blades are slightly shiny on the upper surface and dull beneath, with greenish yellow, slightly rippled margins and a flat base.

In the Garden

'Rapture' reaches a mature spread of 30 inches (76.2 cm) and a height of 30 inches (76.2 cm), with scapes rising 34 to 36 inches (86.4 to 91.4 cm) above the foliage. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its moderate growth rate makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and other small hostas that share similar light and moisture requirements.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain evenly moist soil, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Rapture' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
