Overview

Registered in 2003, 'Plug Nickel' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Cracker Crumbs' notable for its small, mound-like habit and variegated foliage. The leaves are ovate with rounded bases, featuring dark green, slightly rippled margins and a very shiny surface on both sides.

In the Garden

This miniature hosta reaches approximately 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and spreads to 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter, forming a compact mound with a fast growth rate. It is suitable for shade to partial shade in typical hosta-growing zones and performs well in rock gardens, troughs, or as an edging plant. Its small size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While slugs and deer may occasionally browse the foliage, the plant's good substance and rapid growth aid in recovery.
