Overview

Registered in 2015 by D. & J. Ward, this medium-sized hosta resulted from an open pollination of *Hosta* 'Golden Friendship' with an unknown pollen parent. The cultivar is visually defined by its nearly round, moderately corrugated leaves of greenish yellow with broad (1.5 in / 3.8 cm), slightly rippled gold margins, creating a bold bicolor effect.

*Hosta* 'Peg O' My Heart' forms a mound-like clump reaching 24 in (61.0 cm) in height and 36 in (91.4 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is suitable for mid-border positions, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in shaded beds. Its substantial leaf size and striking variegation make it an effective companion for ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
