Overview

Registered in 2001, *Hosta* 'Ops' is a miniature cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H.* 'Flamboyant' as the pod parent. It forms a compact, mound-like plant distinguished by broadly ovate, slightly shiny leaves that are light green with creamy white margins measuring 0.25 to 0.5 inches (0.6–1.3 cm) wide.

In the Garden

'Ops' reaches a mature diameter of 12 inches (30.5 cm) and a height of 5 inches (12.7 cm), with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, and pairs well with other miniature perennials such as *Sedum* or *Thymus* in well-drained, part-shade conditions. Its small size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Ops' is susceptible to slug damage and may require protection in typical hosta-growing zones; deer browsing is also possible.
