Overview
Registered in 2003 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Lemon Lime', 'Lemon Sorbet' is a miniature hosta distinguished by its small, greenish-yellow leaves edged with narrow white margins. The leaf blades are ovate with tapered bases, moderately flat and lightly wavy, measuring 2.75 inches (7.0 cm) long and 1.2 inches (3.0 cm) wide, with three vein pairs and a slightly shiny upper surface contrasting with a very shiny underside.
In the Garden
'Lemon Sorbet' reaches a mature clump diameter of 6 inches (15.2 cm) and a height of 4 inches (10.2 cm), with a moderate growth rate and rhizomatous habit. It performs best in partial shade to filtered light, typical of most hostas, and is well-suited for trough gardens, rockeries, or the front of a shaded border. Its small stature makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation, where its compact form and variegated foliage can be appreciated at close range.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, though the miniature size of 'Lemon Sorbet' can make it less conspicuous to browsing animals.
