Overview
Registered in 2002 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Lemon Lime', 'Lemon Frost' is a miniature hosta distinguished by its greenish-yellow leaves edged with pure white, heavily rippled margins. The narrow, lance-shaped foliage with a dull upper surface and slightly shiny underside, combined with a fast growth rate, creates a compact, mound-like plant reaching 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter.
In the Garden
'Lemon Frost' performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, where its bright foliage provides contrast against darker-leaved companions such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its miniature size and dense, fast-growing habit make it well-suited for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of shaded borders. The 10 to 24 inch (25.4 to 61.0 cm) scapes bear greenish-yellow flowers that rise above the foliage in midsummer.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Lemon Frost' is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
