Overview
Registered in 2015 as an open-pollinated seedling of *Hosta* 'Lemon Honey', 'Lemon Slice' is a small hosta distinguished by its green leaves with gold margins. The broadly ovate, flat-based leaves are 6 inches (15.2 cm) long and 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide, with dull surfaces above and below, and feature yellow, slightly rippled margins with lightly wavy edges.
In the Garden
This compact cultivar reaches a mature size of 9 inches (22.9 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small stature makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants might include small ferns, heucheras, or other miniature hostas that complement its gold-margined foliage.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
