Overview
Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'All Bright' is a small-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Are You There'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Shining Tot'* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaf centers with heavily rippled, bright gold margins, combined with a compact, upright habit and a glaucous bloom on the leaf undersides.
In the Garden
'All Bright' reaches a mature height of 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) and a spread of 14.5 inches (36.8 cm), making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where the gold margins remain brightest without scorching. Its neat, dainty growth and deeply wavy leaves pair well with small ferns, heucheras, or other miniature hostas in a shaded trough or woodland edge.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, as small hostas are more susceptible to drought stress. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring; slug and deer damage should be monitored, though the thick, wavy leaf texture may offer slight resistance.
