Overview

Registered in 2014, 'Lachman Legacy' is a giant hosta of unknown parentage, distinguished by its substantial, broadly ovate leaves in medium green with wide, greenish yellow margins. The leaf margins are flat, approximately 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide, and the blade surfaces are slightly shiny above and dull beneath, with 12 vein pairs and a cordate base.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a large, mound-like clump reaching 60 inches (152.4 cm) in diameter and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where its gold-margined foliage provides contrast against darker-leaved plants such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or background plant in shaded borders.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the broad leaves are palatable to both.
