Overview

Registered in 1999, 'Kiwi Splash' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Francee' distinguished by its medium-sized mound of green leaves with pure white margins. The leaf blades measure 7.9 inches (20.1 cm) long and 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide, bearing 6 to 7 vein pairs and a 0.4-inch (1.0 cm) wide, streaked white margin. The leaf surface is slightly shiny above and dull beneath, with a rounded base.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching 13.75 inches (34.9 cm) in height and 23.6 inches (59.9 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and may be used as a groundcover or border specimen. The dark green to black, glaucous scapes rise 27 to 35 inches (68.6 to 88.9 cm) above the foliage.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Kiwi Splash' is susceptible to slug damage and may require protection from deer.
