Overview

Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Kempen Sky High' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage, with *H.* 'Tequila Sunrise' as its pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its intensely folded, upright leaves of blue-green with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, and slightly rippled margins.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a compact clump reaching 11.25 inches (28.6 cm) in diameter and 13.875 inches (35.2 cm) in height, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hostas, and its small stature makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or containers. The blue-green foliage pairs well with golden or chartreuse groundcovers such as *Lysimachia nummularia* 'Aurea'.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in the garden.
