H. ‘Jade Scepter’

Overview

Registered in 1988 by M. Zilis and T&Z Nursery, 'Jade Scepter' is a small hosta sport of *Hosta* 'Golden Tiara'. It is distinguished by variegated leaves with green margins surrounding a lighter center, and a compact, mounded habit reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and reaches a mature spread of about 2.5 feet (76 cm). Its small size makes it well-suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or small woodland perennials complement its tidy form.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formulation. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
