Ebb Tide

Hosta "Ebb Tide" review

A really different medium/large (20" high) upright plant with intensely courrugated dark green narrow heavily rippled yellow gold margined leaves that cascade downward. Miniature sport of Hosta montana 'Aureomarginata'. Sport from TC. A sport of Hosta montana 'Aureomarginata' with smaller leaves, green with a rippled yellow margin that streaks a bit into the center. The growth is upright and the leaves turn downward, giving the plant a cascading habit. Near-white flowers with lavender stripes. Picture one of the most popular hostas, Hosta montana 'Aureomarginata' and shrink the plant by 1/3 while adding heavy rippling to the leaves and you have Hosta 'Ebb Tide'. This stunning release from Michigan's Ed Elslager makes a 3' wide clump of pointed green leaves, each surrounded by a rippled golden border. In early summer, the clumps are topped with 3' scapes of pure white flowers. This is a truly unique clump that is certain to make a dazzling specimen in your garden.
