Overview
Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Cosmic Knuckles' is a large, variegated cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Fudge Ripple' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Website' (pollen parent). The cultivar is visually distinctive for its heavily corrugated, deeply twisted, and deeply wavy leaves with dark green, heavy rippled margins and a very shiny upper surface.
In the Garden
With a mature spread of 40 inches (101.6 cm) and height of 34 inches (86.4 cm), this upright, moderately growing hosta is best suited to partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its bold, unruly foliage provides strong textural contrast when paired with finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*; the large size makes it unsuitable for most containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Standard hosta pest precautions apply: monitor for slugs and snails, and protect from deer where they are present.
