Overview
Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Congratulations' is a large, mound-forming cultivar notable for its three-colored foliage: a creamy white leaf center with a two-inch-wide dark green margin, and a green-and-white scape. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring nine inches long and seven and a half inches wide, have a dull surface on both sides, a cordate base, and good substance.
In the Garden
'Congratulations' forms a substantial mound 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter and 20 inches (50.8 cm) tall, with a moderate growth rate. It is best suited to partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its variegated leaves. Its large size makes it a strong specimen for the middle to back of a shaded border.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry spells, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer deterrents may be necessary, as both pests are attracted to hosta foliage.
