Overview

Registered in 2012, 'Broad Street' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar notable for its distinctive sandy cream leaf centers with medium green margins that equally divide the leaf surface into thirds. The leaves are broadly ovate with cordate bases, measuring 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide, with 12 to 13 vein pairs.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a mound-like habit reaching 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or as a specimen in shaded beds.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Broad Street' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
