Overview

Registered in 2005, *Hosta* 'Almost' is a small-sized variegated cultivar with *Hosta* 'Cinnamon Sticks' as its pod parent and an unknown pollen parent. It is visually distinctive for its light green leaves with flat margins and a red-purple midrib that retains its color throughout the growing season.

In the Garden

This mound-forming hosta reaches approximately 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or dwarf astilbes. Its compact size makes it suitable for container cultivation, rock gardens, or the front of shaded borders.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are recommended, as both pests may damage the foliage.
