Hostas in Bloom

The hosta is a very popular variety of plant for a multitude of reasons. One of the main reasons is that they are such a hardy plant. They have the surprising ability to survive an array of weather conditions and they thrive in shaded areas. Another reason they are so popular is the vast varieties that you can have in your garden. Each individual hosta is just a bit different, the shape of the leaves, the color configurations of the foliage, multiple sizes, and amazing flowers. Here, you will find lists of hostas and the different colors of flowers they have.

Hosta Flower Varieties

Most hostas produce blooms during the summer, but there are, however, a few that do not. Within the varieties that do, there is a myriad of different flower types. Almost all of the hosta blooms sit atop long stems, but that is where the similarities end. The most common flower color is a light purple, but you can also find hostas with blue flowers, pink flowers, and red flowers. Most hosta blooms are in the shape of a trumpet. Some are quite large while others are very small.

I have two hostas. They are the same type of Hosta but one blooms yellow flower and one blooms a green flower. It is a bushy variety of Hosta. Stays green even the winter. I once saw it in bloom in either a red or a blue flower. Would u know the name of this Hosta and if you carry the red or blue one.

True red or blue hosta flowers don’t exist — most bloom in shades of white, lavender, or pale purple. It may have been a lighting effect or a different plant nearby.
