Registered in 1999, *Hosta* 'Yellow Eyes' is a miniature sport of *H.* 'Green Eyes'. It forms a small, dense mound of green leaves with heavy, rippled gold margins that extend well into the leaf blade, creating a distinctive yellow-green central eye when viewed from above.

In the Garden

'Yellow Eyes' reaches a mature size of 4 inches (10.2 cm) in height and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. Its miniature stature makes it well suited for trough gardens, rockeries, or the front of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade and combines effectively with other small hostas, dwarf ferns, or fine-textured groundcovers such as *Pachysandra* or *Vinca minor*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Like most hostas, it may be browsed by deer and slugs, though its small, thick leaves are somewhat less appealing to slugs than larger, thinner cultivars.
