Overview
Registered in 2015, 'Timber Blaze' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage, notable for its upright habit and distinctive yellow scapes. The leaves are green with gold margins that are slightly rippled, and the plant exhibits a lightly twisted, wavy, and corrugated texture.
In the Garden
'Timber Blaze' forms a clump 18 inches (45.7 cm) tall and 43 inches (109.2 cm) in diameter, with upright foliage that reaches a height of 28 to 34 inches (71.1 to 86.4 cm) when in flower. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins remain bright without scorching. This cultivar pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials, and its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or woodland gardens.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Timber Blaze' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
