Overview
Registered in 1999 by the Russ O'Harra Hosta Society, *Hosta* 'Shirley Levy' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its green leaves with greenish-yellow margins and its stoloniferous, fast-growing habit.
In the Garden
'Shirley Levy' performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas. At maturity, it forms a compact clump with leaves 6 inches (15.2 cm) long and 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) wide, and scapes reaching 12 to 24 inches (30.5 to 61.0 cm) in height. Its small size and stoloniferous nature make it suitable for edging, rock gardens, or container culture; it pairs well with other small shade perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage.
