Overview
Registered in 1988 by Kuk's Forest Nursery, this medium-sized cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Hoarfrost'. 'Photo Finish' is distinguished by its green leaves with white margins, which exhibit one or more undulations along the leaf edge, and its relatively compact, mounded form.
In the Garden
'Photo Finish' reaches a mature height of 10 inches (25.4 cm) and a spread of 15 inches (38.1 cm), making it suitable for the middle to front of a shaded border or rock garden. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white margins remain distinct without scorching. The scapes rise to 18 inches (45.7 cm), bearing lavender flowers in midsummer. Companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and other small- to medium-sized hostas. Its moderate size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage and take protective measures if necessary. This cultivar is hardy in typical hosta-growing zones.
