H. ‘Made You Look’

Overview

Registered in 2000, *Hosta* 'Made You Look' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from a hybrid of *H. 'Dorothy Benedict'* seedling. Its distinguishing feature is green leaves with wide, golden yellow margins that are slightly rippled, creating a pronounced bicolor effect.

In the Garden

This upright, moderate-growing hosta reaches a mature spread of 34 inches (86.4 cm) and height of 14 inches (35.6 cm), making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its cordate, dull-surfaced leaves pair well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials that contrast with its gold-edged foliage. The 20- to 26-inch (50.8–66.0 cm) scapes bear pale lavender flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
