Overview

Registered in 2011, *Hosta* 'Light of Zetar' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage (open-pollinated). It is visually distinguished by its nearly round, green leaves with bright golden yellow margins, extremely thick leaf substance, and a compact, mound-like growth habit.

In the Garden

'Light of Zetar' is suitable for partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas. Its small, dense mound reaches approximately 16 inches (40 cm) in height and 24 inches (60 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. The bright yellow margins and thick, corrugated leaves make it an effective accent in rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, where it pairs well with small ferns or woodland groundcovers. Its compact size also suits container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick leaf substance offers some resistance to slugs, though standard preventative measures remain advisable in damp conditions.
