Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Paradise Power' registered in 2003, 'Green Power' is a small, upright cultivar distinguished by its dark green, heavily rippled leaf margins, very shiny upper and lower surfaces, and tall bloom scapes. The ovate leaves, with tapered bases and nine vein pairs, display deep venation and moderate waviness, while the glaucous green scapes reach 38 to 39 inches (96.5 to 99.1 cm) in height.

In the Garden

'Green Power' forms a compact mound 8 inches (20.3 cm) tall and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its upright, wavy foliage with heavy substance makes it suitable for front-of-border positions, rock gardens, or container culture. Pair with small ferns, heucheras, or fine-textured groundcovers to complement its glossy, rippled leaves.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the shiny foliage may attract pests in shaded, moist conditions.
