Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Striptease' registered in 2015, 'Bella Noche' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with gold margins, which exhibit variable streaking in greenish yellow, pale yellow, and dark green tones. The broadly ovate, slightly shiny leaves have a cordate base and flat margins, with 8 to 10 vein pairs.

In the Garden

Reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, this upright, moderately growing hosta is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its medium size and variegated foliage make it effective as a groundcover or accent in mixed shade borders, where it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. It is not typically recommended for container culture due to its moderate spread.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate deterrents should be considered in areas where these pests are prevalent.
